The Long Wait is Over.

Outside at last!

A few weeks back the bunnies’ have finally got access to their outside pens. Not only that but since the weather has warmed they are also getting plenty of time out and about in the garden. We’ll see what Apollo and Poppy got up to.
First order of business for Apollo was eating and Poppy was checking the way back to her pen.

Then it was time to do some visiting.

Katie does get very wound up by the other bunnies’ visiting.  Thumper can leave or take the visitors but he always keeps Katie in check if he thinks she’s getting too excited or fraternising too much.

Winding Katie up even more.
As you can see its usually the girls who like to wind each other up.
Apollo is never really that bothered about winding anyone up.
Apollo decides to soak up the sun.
Now he wants more adventure.
He ponders where to go first.
In actual fact, this day he started his infatuation with the young hedge.
A quick sniff of it first.
More sniffing and a naughty nibble.
Apollo finds an interesting smell but he’s not sure if he might have to sprint away hence his back legs.
Satisfied all is ok he gives it a good chinning claiming it as his.
Meanwhile Poppy has gone back home.

Poppy is still adjusting to a different lifestyle without Toffee.  This is her first full summer with Apollo and she has taken a little while to realise she can go from her outside pen to the garden by herself. No human to pick her up. She wasn’t able to do that before.  Poppy is still adjusting to being an independant bunny too.  Normally when outside she would have been looking after her Toffee especially last year when his health began to deteriorate. It’s taken her all winter to realise she doesn’t have to be a ‘carer’ anymore. Although, Apollo does his best to get her to mother him constantly. Once Apollo jumps up on to the back garden Poppy generally goes back to her pen.  I think Apollo just being there gives her a bit of reassurance.  Poppy has never jumped onto the back garden, in fact she has never considered it once again because of Toffee, as he was blind he obviously never attempted it. This summer I hope to get her used to going on the back garden and hopefully having Apollo nearby will help her. Apollo on the other hand knows no bounds when it comes to heading off exploring!
