Having Aunties is Great.

Peanut tucking into a Beech branch.

It’s that time of year where some hedge cuttings are becoming available, namely Hornbeam, Beech & Apple.  Not only did I have some available but the bunnies’ Aunties did too. First up was cuttings from my Hornbeam hedge.

Hornbeams all collected ready for the bunnies.

A large branch was placed in each of the bunnies’ pens.

And the end results:

All that was left.

The bunnies have never had Hornbeam before & they did ok with them preferring the leaves more when they had dried. They didn’t really do much in the way of stripping the bark though. The Beech hedge branches were next, kindly given by the bunnies’ Aunty C.

The Beech hedge clippings.
Apollo & Daisy got their branch but it didn’t peak their interest only Peanut & Tillys!
Surprisingly Thumper & Katie were too interested in some grass they had been given earlier & also ignored the branch!
At last one bunny tucking in!
Peanut continues to munch while Tilly hops off!

The end result:

Most of the leaves had gone but not much bark stripping.

Once again the bunnies have never had Beech branches & it was surprising how little they were interested in them.  Peanut did the best & some of the others had a good munch of the leaves but not much in the way of stripping the bark & having a good old chew.  In the photo above you can see some bark stripping on the middle branches.
Auntie D then brought over some apple branches, which the bunnies have had before.

Apple branches with the leaves just drying.

The results:

Apple branches fully stripped.

Think it’s quite obvious which branches the bunnies love but it’s always worth trying them on something new just in case you find that favourite thing!
