Winter Maintenance.

Molly & Peanut ‘helping’ me with the weeding first and making notes on how much soil was needed.

Towards the end of last year it was time to make the outdoor pen repairs. Unusally there was only one pen that needed a lot of work which was Peanut and Molly’s.  First thing was to find out how much damage had been done. As you can see from the photo above, the mound had a tunnel dug at the side of it.  That was Peanut’s handiwork. Also, if you look at the wall near Peanut, you can see the large area they had dug out.

Some time later, the area now filled in and will be seeded.
Another repair!

This is where Peanut and Molly’s box had been and if you look up against the mesh, you can see where Peanut dug a tunnel underneath the box. I did have a little helper when I finally got the soil to do the repairs…

Apollo decided he’d come along and help.

The repairs were done end of October last year and here is what the pens look like now.

This is Thumper and Katie’s pen. Not looking too bad.
Apollo and Poppy’s pen. Once again not too bad, a few bare patches.
Molly and Peanut’s pen. Not the best. No seeds had grown, usually by this time they are starting to sprout.

The biggest problem in Molly and Peanut’s pen is that the tunnel is bare soil. I am pretty confident Peanut will dig all the soil off the pipe. Perhaps I am going to have to invest in some turf at least that would take him longer!
