Moult time Already!

Annie looking very fluffy.

It is that time again where fur is abound everywhere.  It doesn’t seem two minutes since they were having their last moult.  As you can see from the above photo, Annie is well underway with her moult.

Thumper is ahead with his moulting compared to some of the other bunnies.

As you can see from Thumper’s photo above, his moult has just finished his back , it’ll be the sides next then his rump.

Thumper’s moult a few days after the last photo. You can see his sides & rump have really started to shed.
Tilly’s moult is now heading towards her rump. Her moult is quite subtle this year.
Peanut has only just started his moult. You can see the moult line on his cheek.
Daisy is about the same level as the other moulters, about to start on her rump.

The best thing you can keep doing when they are moulting is to keep combing & help get as much of the fur out as possible.  Do note though that for some bunnies it’ll be never ending at the beginning so just do as much as your bunny will tolerate, but comb more often.  My bunnies this year don’t seem to be having a heavy moult so I am not having to do a lot of combing so far.  That said I do have some of the bunnies who are only just starting, so we’ll see how they fare.  If you’d like to know more about moulting please click here.

Just some of the fur collected from the bunnies.

You may wonder why I collect it, well it makes a great nest lining for the birds.  Imagine those little chicks sat on all the lovely soft fur keeping warm – luxury.

Fur ready to hang out for the birds.
